SUMMER OPEN-AIR WITH ROLANDO VILLAZON AND MARTIN AUDIO

Intensive preparations preceded the Summer Open-Air event with Rolando Villazón at the end of August. Perfect sound was required for this musical summer night in Eferding. Perfect sound was required for this global star, who was accompanied by the Orchestra Philharmonie Salzburg under conductor Elisabeth Fuchs.

The beautiful town square served as a backdrop and auditorium for the opera tenor, who generally performs at the State Operas in Vienna, Berlin and Munich, La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera New York and the Salzburg Festival.

The Open-Air was organised by the Kiwanis Club Eferding to mark their 30th anniversary in the city. The proceeds went to support regional projects for children and young people.

One of Austria's most renowned sound engineers was responsible for creating the perfect sound through a Martin Audio Wavefront Precision Series line array. Martin Mayer has been focusing on live sound reinforcement since 1990 as both sound engineer, production manager, sound designer and consultant. His goal is to realise the quality demands of modern studio productions within the context of a live production.Mayer was awarded the OPUS - German Stage Prize for Sound Design at Prolight + Sound Frankfurt in 2005.

The manufacturer of the sound system can also point to a renowned award. Martin Audio's Wavefront Precision Series was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in Innovation in 2021. Throughout 50 years the manufacturer has focused on inspiring the audience with perfect live sound.

In Eferding two 12-hang Martin Audio WPC elements were used as main PA and two 16-element WPM for delays. The scalable resolution of the WPC and WPM systems improves coverage consistency and control precision compared with standard line arrays, allowing flexible array optimisation. The system was powered by Martin Audio iK42 and iK81 amplifiers, with four- and eight-channels, respectively, delivering 20,000W and 10,000W RMS.

The crystal-clear, natural sound of the system delighted the 1,900 visitors. After more than two stellar hours of playing time, the artist received a long and thunderous applause on this unforgettable evening.
